Accidents happen. Sometimes they’re small…sometimes they’re big. That’s what insurance is for.
The most important thing following an accident in your car, is to stay calm and remember SAFE. Four little letters to act by:
Stay Safe. Turn off your engine, put the hazard lights on, check if anyone’s hurt, and if they are call 999. Stand away from the road and behind a crash barrier if you’re on a motorway.
Ask for information. Make sure you get the details of everyone involved, specifically the other driver’s name, address, registration, phone number and email, and the name of their insurance company. Collect contact details from any witnesses to what happened, too.
Collect all the Facts about the accident, so you have all the information to hand. If it’s safe to do so, take photos of the scene, the positions and damage on all vehicles; and take a note of the weather conditions, location and road names, if visible.
Engage with esure. You need to get in contact with us as soon as possible, whether you want to make a claim or not.
Call us on 0345 603 7872 or go online via “My Account”; the sooner you let us know what happened, the quicker we can help. It’s also important to give the other driver our number too.
If the accident involved only your car, you can report your claim, share accident related information and any photos online via MyAccount.
But if you want to get that phone fixed, you’ll need to look up your Home Contents Insurance to see if it’s covered…!
