The ease of opening the insurance policy was great. The tracking device for black box also came on time and I just have to stick it to windshield and connect it to the app on my mobile. However I am a bit sceptical about the claim process, in the eventuality of an incident. There are many negative comments out there regarding the claim process. Hopefully nothing comes up.

Cancellation fee was 35 pounds on a 35 pound policy. Not willing to reduce or waiver fee.To make matters worse the person wished me a good day after they took payment. When I told him to stop being disengenuous as he couldn’t care less if I had a good day, the supervisor got offended.

Piece of advice to Hastings direct. Just say goodbye after you have taken a ridiculous payment for what amounts to about 3 pounds worth of service.

Hi. So sorry to hear this. Unfortunately, when a policy is terminated early, there is a cancellation fee charge. The cancellation is rated on a per day basis. Our fees are stated in your policy documents as well as our site prior to purchase but I do apologise if you weren’t aware of this. ~ Jodie

My current car insurance will be expired in next month. I renew it earlier and missed to change my address. Then I requested them to Change my address and said it will cost me £58 more. I was not happy and cancelled my renewal policy it is within the 14 day cooling off period. But I didn’t get full refund and they charged me £20. Totally unacceptable.

If you tell us your details have changed, we run a quote to recalculate your premium to see if you’re now more or less likely to make a claim in the future and whether your premium should increase, decrease, or stay the same.

I am waiting for someone to talk to me about repairs to my car and a substitute vehicle after an accident but it is impossible to contact them!Someone was supposed to be contacting me today but even though I have made numerous calls I cannot get through or the phone is put down as soon as the ring tone starts. I think I will have to contact the ombudsman to get anywhere with this insurance company. I am disabled and rely on a car and I pay extra for a substitute vehicle.

Having recieved a renewal on line from hastings for my car ins for £430 I decided to look elsewhere . Where I found the right ins quote for £310.62 which is a lot better than hastings so took out the new offer . Only to be told by hastings that they went ahead with there ins. I explained that I’ve already taken out a far better offer so they said I would have to pay £23.38 to cancel . when I asked why I was told It was was automaticly renewed even though I didn’t need It . If this is there service they can keep it

Getting this company to accept the cancellation of a car policy isn’t easy!!!! Despite me stating in writing that my policy was to be cancelled, they refused to accept the cancellation until i sent them proof of sale (a receipt from WEBUYANY CAR not being sufficient apparaently). They have since said I hwas also required to confirm cancellation over the phone ie not just in writing. They have also now said their correspondence with me was a “cancellation quote” (???!) and have subsequently deducted the following years’ renewal premium from my bank account! Be careful of this company.

Not impressed as got charged also even though I renewed with Hastings direct.people I spoke to were rude to me and my daughter who was helping me due to a hearing problem. This company is a joke, hopefully you have another car or money to buy another car, this joke of a company takes months just to make a decision on the car, and good luck trying to get a courtesy car.I highly recommend staying clear of this joke and actually getting insurance with a real insurance company.

Every time I contacted Hastings via Go Compare for the same car I got a different price, finally agreed to a quote and got to the pay page and they wacked another £30 on. Eventually I got to speak to someone direct and their reply was ‘Oh yes our quotes change all the time’. I said I had agreed to a policy but you still tried to charge me more. That is what I call a con.Got policy through Direct Line which was £45 cheaper and easy to do on line for the price quoted and not spending hours trying to get what I wanted.

When we offer quotes for a new policy, the quote is based on real time pricing which can fluctuate throughout the day, as underwriters update their risk criteria based on new information all the time. This means we give our best and most accurate price using the information you give us at the time. We can also only control our own website with any updated quotes, therefore the ones on a comparison site may be expired. I am sorry this did not work out favourably for you on this occasion.

This situation really annoys me, where possible i will tick the do not auto renew box, but you can guarantee i will still get a message near the end of my policy, they will auto renew, this practice needs stopping, they rely on people forgetting, then making more money because people forget.i have gone online, to stop the auto renew, and guess what i have to ring them, so they can try and get me to stay, i can do everything else online, but cancel, why? and this is the same for most insurance companies.of course it will be dressed up as if they are doing you a favour, and most of their customers like it, blah blah, blah, its there for one reason, and that’s to make money.

They tried to get an extra £75 pounds out of me after I had already paid £260 which was the same as my previous insurance company. So I cancelled, cost me £20 and went back to esure who are excellent and helpful

Thought all was great untill filing a claim.. Good for cheap basic insurance for young drivers but as soon as you make a claim it is the most horrible experience imaginable trying to work anything through with this company.. Would never recommend or use again.

Three different valuations three months later I finally got payed for the theft of my other bike they had glady took 35% of for them self only got half of what the bike was worth I lost my job because of the length of time and my home aviod like the plague

They renewed the policy in the middle of the night, when I rang them in the morning, they wouldn’t let me cancel. They kept trying to give me a sales pitch after sales pitch and when I finally lost my patience then they said they will cancel in 24 hours but they want £20 to do that. Never was this explain to me, I do not trust this company and nobody else should either. It is a scam trying to get £20 out of customers rather than bid them a goodbye and maybe they will do business with you again. They have lost that with me. For the sake of £20, and a one star review on trust pilot. Good luck with that. Also they don’t tell you about the black box that you have to put in your car and keep sending them data every time you get in your car, Beware…

Have been with Hastings a few years. Missed a payment by DD so they asked me to pay by card, which I did. Got an email a day later to say they’ve cancelled my insurance.Called 4 times and got through to customer service. They said send an email with proof of payment. I asked how long this would take to get my email answered and they hung up on me 4 times because ‘they get lots of emails and cannot give me a time to respond’

Now I’m left with no car insurance and a call centre that hangs up on you! Terrible customer service!

Its the 20th January and unless Ive been in an alternate reality there has not been any reason why I should wait over an hour with still no reply to make a claim.Has their been a natural disaster in the UK, maybe a hurricane or earthquake I am unaware off?9 years no claims tried to make a claim last year and was not paid out after my home was destroyed by a dodgy builder. Now Im trying to get through to this lack luster company with no avail!!!

Absolutely terrible insurance company. All good until you have a accident and took so long to pay out plus getting through on the phone..well good luck! After my accident they cancelled my policy saying it was in their terms and conditions as I didnt add a new car withing 30days but still charged me for the full 9 remaining months???
