Contents are the items in your home that could be taken with you if you moved house including furniture, carpets, electrical equipment and clothing.New for old replacementsContents insurance covers items in your home to replace as new if they cannot be repaired with an item of similar make or model.Causes of damage to your homeContents insurance also covers damage from:Fire Lightning Storm Earthquake Subsidence Theft Escape of water You can add cover to include accidental damage cover. This can include damage to TVs and computers, carpets and furniture caused by slips, knocking things over, or even birds coming down the chimney and covering your home in soot!We do not cover general wear or aging of an item, such as fading curtains or fabric and if your television stops working.High-risk itemsWe include cover for high risk items such as jewellery as standard (up to £7,500). If your high risk item would cost more than £1,000 to replace as new, you will need to list these out individually. You may have to supply a valuation for your valuables over £1,000.High risk items are valuables in the home that are considered more likely to be stolen in the event of a burglary.High risk items include:Televisions, personal computers Binoculars and photographic equipment Audio and video equipment Jewellery and articles of precious metal, clocks and watches Furs Pictures, works of art, curios and collections Our high risk cover will insure your valuables up to £7,500, as standard. You can increase your cover up to £30,000.What else can you cover?We offer the following optional extras to choose from:Everyday items that you take out of your home(personal possessions cover) for items such as your valuables, personal effects and clothing Legal services Home emergency cover (not available for tenants and exclusions apply, see our policy wording for more information.)
